Mental health has emerged as a critical priority for public health, education, and sustainable development in contemporary India. Rapid technological advancements, changing social structures, migration, urbanization, academic pressures, workplace demands, and demographic transitions have significantly influenced psychological wellbeing across all age groups.
Despite growing awareness, substantial challenges remain in ensuring accessible, affordable, inclusive, and culturally responsive mental healthcare. Simultaneously, technological innovations such as Artificial Intelligence, tele-counselling, digital therapeutics, and online support systems are transforming the delivery of mental health services.
Recognizing these developments, the Department of Psychology, Vishwakarma University proposes to organize an International Conference on “Mental Health in Contemporary India: Access, Inclusion, Technology and Well-being (MHCI-AITW).” The conference will provide a multidisciplinary platform for academicians, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, healthcare professionals, educators, technology experts, students, and industry stakeholders to deliberate on emerging issues, innovative interventions, and future directions in mental health.

Established in 2017, the Department of Psychology at Vishwakarma University has emerged as a dynamic centre for teaching, research, training, and community engagement. The Department offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and doctoral programmes and is equipped with a Psychological Testing Laboratory, digital infrastructure, and experienced faculty members representing diverse specializations in psychology.
Guided by its vision of creating psychologists with international professional competence, the Department promotes research, innovation, professional ethics, and social responsibility. Through industry collaborations, research projects, field training, mental health awareness programmes, community outreach initiatives, and extension activities, the Department contributes significantly to psychological wellbeing and social impact.
